Khee Yang Teh (Benedict) Head of Digital Transformation and Innovation Benedict was born in Bukit Mertajam and raised in Ipoh, which gives him the unique identities of being both a "Penang Kia" and "Yi Bou Yan." He found his way to Australia to pursue his studies and discovered the exciting opportunity to participate in a twinning program from Malaysia. Graduating with a Master's Degree in IT from the prestigious University of Wollongong, he now finds himself working in Wollongong. He is honored to serve as a committee member in AMSA. Being in a foreign country, AMSA has become a second family to him and a supportive community where we all look out for one another. Donny Doughty is the Convenor for AMSA's Victoria State Network. Born in Labuan, Borneo Malaysia, Don arrived in Austrailain 2017 and works as an International Student Liaison for Huddle, the community arm of North Melbourne Football Club. Donny DOUGHTY Convenor (Victoria Network) Donny Doughty (Don) was born in Labuan, Borneo Malaysia; the day Malaya commemorates its 31st Independence Day celebration. He owes his life experience growing up in Kota Kinabalu, the capital city of North Borneo. He arrived in Melbourne in January 2017 to pursue his studies in International Business Trade and is in his final year of his Bachelor in Business Management. He currently works as the International Student Liaison for the Huddle, the community arm of North Melbourne Football Club. His goal ties mainly in connecting international students to aid and supports from local governments, state, and federal government-led relief. Previously, he had represented national peak body, and held role as a board member for NFP independent student-led media. He recently received his appointment as the North-West Metro Regional Advisory Committee for the Victorian Multicultural Commission. Don is thankful for being part of the Australian Malaysian Singaporean Association. He hopes to build more connections with tompinai and tambahutku, people of Borneo and East Malaysian together here in Victoria and AMSA, representing and sharing our cultural diversity, festivities, and tasty delicacies of our hometowns right here in the land down under, our now home. Shamini MANIKAM Honorary Secretary Shamini Manikam is passionate about bringing people together and believes that strong communities are built through meaningful connections, shared experiences, and a spirit of giving back. Having lived in several countries throughout her life—including Malaysia, Singapore, and now Australia—she has gained a deep appreciation for different cultures, perspectives, and the importance of creating a sense of belonging wherever people call home. Professionally, Shamini works in the financial services industry with Macquarie Bank, where she has built a career centred on collaboration, organisation, and fostering trusted relationships. She enjoys working with people from diverse backgrounds and believes that the strongest communities are built through openness, respect, and teamwork. Community service has been a consistent part of Shamini's journey. During her time in Singapore, she served as Secretary of the Malaysian Association in Singapore (MASIS), where she supported initiatives that brought the Malaysian community together through cultural, social, and networking activities. She is delighted to continue that journey as Honorary Secretary of the Australian Malaysian Singaporean Association, helping to foster an inclusive and vibrant community where members can celebrate their heritage, build lasting friendships, and strengthen the bonds between Australia, Malaysia, and Singapore. Outside of her professional life, Shamini has a deep passion for the performing arts. She is a classical Indian dancer and singer and enjoys playing the Taiko drums, the veena, the harmonium, and the keyboard. She believes that music and the arts have a unique ability to connect people across cultures and generations, making them a powerful way to preserve cultural heritage and bring communities together.
