Born and raised in Kuala Lumpur and Penang, Malaysia, Shuba completed her education in Malaysia and the United Kingdom, while her classical dance journey through the Temple of Fine Arts Malaysia shaped her deep appreciation for culture, discipline, and community connection.

Shuba Bala is a Director of Technology Governance, Risk & Compliance with nearly over three decades of experience in the software and technology sector. Her career has progressed from software development and senior systems analysis to executive leadership in digital transformation, AI governance, cybersecurity, risk, compliance, and operational excellence, delivering strategic initiatives across Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, and Asia.

What sets Shuba apart is her career deliberately spanning technology, governance, and law. Alongside decades of technology leadership, she is undertaking formal paralegal studies while actively volunteering within the community legal sector. As a member of the Global AI Certification Council
(GAICC), she continues to strengthen her expertise in responsible AI, AI assurance, and Senior Lead Auditor practice. An Australian Computer Society (ACS) Certified Professional (MACS CP) and ACS Mentor since 2021, she is committed to mentoring the next generation of ICT professionals.

Beyond her professional career, Shuba is passionate about community leadership. A dedicated Bharatanatyam classical dancer, she practises, choreographs, coordinates, and performs at cultural events that celebrate heritage and strengthen community connections. She also serves as a
Community Representative on Cumberland City Council's Domestic and Family Violence Prevention
Advisory Committee, contributing to policy, education, and community initiatives supporting victim-
survivors. As a Student Paralegal, she volunteers with Toongabbie Legal Centre, supporting legal
clinics, community outreach, and public education to improve awareness of legal rights and access to justice.

A proud AMSA member since 2018, Shuba joined the AMSA Executive Committee in 2026 as Head of Events & Community Engagement, leading the association's cultural, professional, educational, and networking initiatives while strengthening engagement across the Australian, Malaysian, and Singaporean community.

Her vision for AMSA is built around six strategic pillars:
Culture – Celebrating the shared heritage of Australia, Malaysia, and Singapore through meaningful cultural experiences that foster understanding, appreciation, and respect.
Community – Strengthening engagement through inclusive cultural, social, professional, and networking events that bring people together.
Education – Delivering community education and awareness programs on issues such as domestic and family violence prevention, migration and visa pathways, legal rights, cyber safety, mental health, responsible gambling, financial wellbeing, and access to community
support.
Business – Facilitating cross-border business, investment, entrepreneurship, and professional collaboration between Australia, Malaysia, and Singapore.
Leadership – Empowering students, young professionals, and emerging community leaders through mentoring, leadership development, and career opportunities.
Partnerships – Building strategic relationships with government, educational institutions, industry, and community organisations to create lasting value for AMSA members.

Above all, Shuba believes meaningful leadership is measured by the opportunities we create for others. Through technology, governance, culture, education, and community service, she is committed to strengthening connections between Australia, Malaysia, and Singapore while helping AMSA grow as a vibrant, inclusive, and forward-looking community for generations to come.
