Intellectual Culture Group

Introduction:

The Intellectual Culture Group was initially formed out of an initiative between the AMSA and the Chinese Australian Forum (CAF) in Sydney.  The Group was formed to engage Community Leaders, representatives and Government in addressing issues that are relevant to the promotion of understanding, goodwill and harmony in the Australian and Ethnic Communities.  An overall outcome of this initiative is continuous improvement in two-way communication between our community and the government. The Intellectual Culture Group operates under the management of the AMSA Executive Committee.

Key Tasks:

  • Develop interests that target a range of topics related to issues relevant to the Australian and Ethnic Communities.

  • Develop critical thinking and pursue intellectual critique through participation in local and community seminars/forums and conferences..

  • Facilitate the promotion of a greater awareness of political, legal and civil issues directly or indirectly affecting our community. This is achieved by making relevant representations to both State and Federal Governments and their Agencies to raise the awareness of and resolve grassroots issues affecting community interests.
